Essay Founding Fathers of the United States George...
George Washington was the father of the United States of America. He created our country from the beginning. Not only was he a great leader, but he was also a great commander. He helped us win the Revolutionary War, which gave our country independence. We finally became free, and thatââ¬â¢s the greatest thing in America. The fact that he motivated regular people to fight a huge army is amazing. In 1732, George Washington was born on his fathers plantation in Westmoreland County, Virginia. His father, Augustine, was a leading planter in the area and also served as a justice of the county court. His fatherââ¬â¢s first wife died in 1729, leaving him with Augustine Jr., Lawrence, and Jane. Georgeââ¬â¢s father died when he was eleven, leaving most ofâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦He motivated regular people to fight one of the most powerful armies in the world at that time. Surprisingly enough, Washingtonââ¬â¢s army defeated the British, simply by being more tactical and flexi ble. George Washington also had great morals. On December 23, 1783, Washington presented himself before Congress in Annapolis, Maryland, and resigned his commission. Like Cincinnatus, the hero of Classical antiquity whose personality he looked up to, Washington had the wisdom to give up power when he could have taken it all. He left Annapolis and finally arrived home to Mount Vernon.This one act, made him an international hero. After the Revolutionary War came to a conclusion, George Washington became the first U.S. president. He served two terms as President. His first term was primarily for organizing the executive branch of the new government and creating procedures that would make it possible for the government and people cooperate smoothly. He surrounded himself with the best and brightest men in the new nation. Washingtons second term was clouded with foreign affairs. Washington became president on the eve of the French Revolution. The French Revolutionary War in 1793 forced the issue into American politics, which was almost disastrous for the nations future. The future depended on the increase in wealth and opportunity that would come from commerce and expansion to the west.
